Thanks, Serge, for the quick, professional, and reasonably priced service. Will use you again - highly recommend!
Overview
From a Midtown walk-up to an acre in Rio Linda, one local crew covers all of Sacramento County, usually the same day. Upfront pricing, no hidden fees, no tips expected.
The couch is in a third-floor Midtown walk-up. The garage is in Elk Grove and has not held a car since the kids were small. The shed is in Rio Linda, on an acre, with a tractor attachment inside that nobody can name. Those three calls can come in the same morning, and they all go to the same truck, because Sacramento County is where we run most of our jobs. Our shop at 524 Houston Street in West Sacramento sits right on the county's western edge.

Junk Removal Across Sacramento County
The county is the heart of the region and, by a wide margin, our busiest service area. It runs from dense urban blocks to post-war suburbs, riverfront neighborhoods and semi-rural parcels on the edges, and each corner produces its own work. In the city we clear single items out of Midtown apartments and downtown condos. In Land Park, Tahoe Park and East Sacramento, where the houses date to the 1920s and 1940s, we do decades-deep garage and estate cleanouts with narrow side yards and no straight hallways.
Out in the suburbs, fast-growing Elk Grove and the tidy tract homes of Citrus Heights keep us busy with garage clears, appliance swaps and rental turnovers. The leafy, larger lots of Carmichael and Fair Oaks near the American River mean bigger jobs: mature-yard green waste, shed teardowns and full-property clears. Toward the rural northern edge, Rio Linda and Elverta bring large-parcel cleanouts with old equipment, fencing and outbuildings. Same truck, same two people, same price list.
Cities and Communities We Serve in Sacramento County
Find your city for local details and the jobs we see most there:
The capital and our busiest market: downtown high-rises, Midtown apartments, and the family streets of Land Park, Pocket and East Sacramento. Single items to full estates.
One of the fastest-growing cities in the region. Garage cleanouts, appliance and furniture haul-aways, and rental turnovers in the newer subdivisions.
Tidy suburb with a big rental market. Quick single-item pickups, garage clears and fast unit turnovers near Sunrise Mall and Greenback Lane.
Along the Highway 50 corridor, residential cleanouts mixed with commercial work: office decommissioning, warehouse clears and apartment turnovers near Mather.
Leafy streets and larger lots near the American River mean bigger jobs: detached garages, sheds, mature-yard green waste and full estate clears.
Mid-century ranch homes and apartments near Arden Fair. A single mattress out of a second-floor unit, or a decades-deep estate cleanout.
Village charm and wooded, river-adjacent lots: patio and yard debris, shed and fence teardowns, household haul-aways.
Semi-rural parcels and horse properties toward the foothills. Shed teardowns, old fencing, green waste and full-property cleanouts.
Newer family subdivisions where garages fill fast. Appliance swaps, outgrown playsets and household clutter.
Practical pickups for established homes and the many rentals near the former McClellan base.
Rural, large-parcel properties: old equipment, fencing, tires, sheds and heavy yard debris.
From historic Sutter Street to the newer neighborhoods near Folsom Lake: garage cleanouts, post-remodel clears and estate work.
Well-kept planned villages along the American River. Tidy, careful jobs: garage clears, appliance swaps and specialty items.
Busy South Sacramento neighborhoods and a strong rental market: furniture and appliance haul-aways and quick unit turnovers.
Newer master-planned neighborhoods near the river: household clutter, appliance swaps and garage clears.
Established neighborhoods and a busy rental market: furniture, appliance and full-unit cleanouts.
Sacramento County Disposal Rules Worth Knowing
Where you live in the county decides what the curb will take. Inside the City of Sacramento, residents with city trash service get free appointment-based bulky pickups, a few items at a time, booked ahead and set at the curb on the day. In the unincorporated communities, Arden-Arcade among them, trash service comes from the county instead, and the rule is blunt: anything that will not fit in the gray cart with the lid closed is a bulky item, and leaving it at the curb on a non-collection day is illegal dumping. Refrigerators are excluded from bulky pickup everywhere because the refrigerant has to be recovered first. Self-hauling means the Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station, Kiefer Landfill or the North Area Recovery Station, a tarped load and a fee by weight. Paint, chemicals and other household hazardous waste go free to the county drop-offs at the North Area Recovery Station and Kiefer; we cannot carry those.
Full-Service Junk Removal Across Sacramento County
Wherever you are in the county, the same complete range of hauling and cleanout services shows up:
- Residential junk removal. The bulk of the work: a single couch, a garage that became a catch-all, a whole home before a move. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, exercise equipment and clutter from any room on any floor, carried by our insured two-person crew.
- Estate and eviction cleanouts. Executors settling a home, families downsizing a parent, landlords resetting a unit. We clear the property, donate what is usable when we can, and leave it broom-clean, coordinating with realtors and attorneys when needed.
- Appliance removal. Refrigerators, washers, dryers and stoves cannot go to the curb in California. We route them to a recycler where a certified technician recovers the refrigerant, and we take a few electronics alongside a regular pickup. A large lot of e-waste should go straight to an e-waste recycler.
- Furniture, yard waste and remodel leftovers. A lone recliner or a full living room, weathered patio sets, fallen limbs, and the old cabinets, fixtures and appliances a remodel leaves behind. Mixed demolition debris such as drywall is a job for a licensed C&D hauler or a dumpster; we take single-material loads only (metal, concrete or clean wood).
- Commercial and property-management work. Office cleanouts, retail and warehouse clears and furniture removal scheduled around operating hours, plus documented turnovers between tenants.
- Specialty and large items. Hot tubs ($300 to $600+), pianos, pool tables, safes, playsets and sheds, with floors, walls and doorways protected on the way out.
Who We Help Across Sacramento County

- Renters who need one couch, mattress or appliance gone without renting a truck.
- Landlords and property managers who need fast, documented turnovers.
- Real estate agents coordinating pre-sale or probate cleanouts.
- Businesses: offices, retail, restaurants and warehouses clearing space.
- Contractors with a single-material load, cleared between phases.
- Seniors and families managing a downsizing move or settling an estate.
The Items Sacramento County Customers Ask Us to Remove Most
- Couches, sectionals and recliners: too big for the car, refused by charities when stained.
- Mattresses and box springs, which most curbside pickup will not take.
- Refrigerators, washers, dryers and stoves, 150 to 300 pounds each and needing a certified recycler.
- Old TVs, computers and electronics, a few alongside a regular pickup; they cannot legally go in the trash in California.
- Treadmills, weight sets and home gyms: heavy, bolted together and usually upstairs.
- Hot tubs, pianos and pool tables, which need the right crew and gear.
- Yard waste, old fencing and sheds, the debris that piles up outside.
- Garage, attic and storage-unit clutter: boxes, tools and years of someday items.
Common Junk Removal Jobs We Handle in Sacramento County
- Moving cleanouts, so you are not paying a mover to haul junk to the new place.
- Garage, attic and shed clearing, reclaiming the space that filled with boxes and old furniture.
- Estate and downsizing cleanouts when a loved one passes or a parent moves to assisted living.
- Rental turnovers and evictions, fast and documented, so you can clean, paint and re-list.
- Hoarding cleanouts, patient and judgment-free, in heavily packed homes.
- Post-remodel cleanup: old cabinets, fixtures, appliances and furniture, not mixed demolition debris.
- Spring cleaning: one appointment instead of a dozen weekend dump runs.
What We Take: and What We Can't
If it is non-hazardous and two people can carry it, we almost certainly take it. The main exceptions are hazardous materials: wet paint, motor oil, chemicals, solvents and asbestos, which the law routes to a licensed disposal or abatement facility. We also cannot take heavy inert loads beyond the truck's weight limit, though a concrete-only load priced by weight is fine, and small amounts of dirt can ride along with a regular load. If you are unsure about an item, ask when you book and we tell you straight.
How Our Junk Removal Works in Sacramento County
Text a photo to (916) 770-7619 or book online and pick a window; weekend slots are usually open across the county. At the door we look, confirm the price, and start only when you say go, with no hourly meter. We carry everything out ourselves from any floor, protect floors and walls on the way, sweep up, and haul the load to the right place: clean furniture and working appliances to a Sacramento-area charity when we can, metal to a scrap recycler, and the rest to the transfer station. Charities refuse stained, torn or broken items, so we never promise donation on a whole load.
Upfront, Volume-Based Pricing
You pay for the share of the truck your items fill, not the number of pieces or the hours. The tiers are the same everywhere in the county:
| Load | Typical price | What that looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | $99 to $150 | One couch, a fridge or a treadmill |
| Quarter truck | $180 to $280 | A bedroom set, or a garage corner of boxes and bikes |
| Half truck | $320 to $480 | A full one-bedroom turnover, or a packed single garage |
| Full truck | $850 to $1,000 | A whole-house or estate clear, sometimes two of these |
Weight (concrete, dirt, solid wood), access (stairs, long carries) and item type can adjust it, and you hear that on the phone, not at the door. No deposits, no fuel surcharge, no dump fee added later. Book online and we take $20 off.
Renting a Dumpster vs. Full-Service Junk Removal
A roll-off's rental price is only part of the cost. You pay delivery and pickup, weight overages, sometimes a street-placement permit, and it sits in the driveway for days while you do the loading, which is the heavy, dirty part. With full-service removal the labor is included: we show up, load everything and it is gone in one visit for one price. For most single cleanouts it is faster, and the cost gap is smaller than it looks once you count the extra fees and the weekend you would spend loading.
Same-Day and Weekend Availability in Sacramento County
Junk rarely waits for a convenient time: a sale closes, a tenant leaves, or you finally have a free afternoon for the garage. We are open 24 hours, 7 days, and the earlier in the day you text, the better the odds of a truck today. Next-day is almost always open.
What Sacramento County Customers Say
We could list reasons to choose a local company over a franchise. Customers describe the jobs better. From our Google and Yelp reviews, unedited:
“Today, I was extremely fortunate to have found TCJ (Take Care Junk, Serge) as a diamond in the rough amongst several other highly advertised competing haulers online.”
Sharon Williams-Rodriguez, Google“I called to get a quote and within an hour TCJ was at my doorstep ready to load and haul! Very professional and super prompt!”
Scott D., Yelp“The second time I couldn’t be there, so he sent me pictures before and after the removal, it worked perfectly, and I paid via Venmo. Very convenient.”
Karen N., YelpThe pattern across 255 Google reviews is the same three things: we show up when we said, the price does not move once quoted, and the lifting is ours. Take Care Junk has been one owner, Serge Pavlenko, and one crew-led local company since 2017, not a national chain, with a 5.0 rating and BBB A+ accreditation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you serve all of Sacramento County?
Yes: the city of Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Rio Linda and every community between. Our West Sacramento shop sits on the county's western edge, so no address is more than about 40 minutes out.
Can you handle both downtown apartments and suburban homes?
Yes. A single item out of a Midtown walk-up with no elevator and a full garage, yard or estate in Elk Grove are both normal days. Tight urban parking and long suburban driveways are our problem, not yours.
Do you work with Sacramento County property managers and realtors?
Yes. Recurring rental turnovers and pre-listing cleanouts across the county, with lockbox access, photos when the unit is clear, broom-clean results and the same price list every time.
How much does junk removal cost in Sacramento County?
By truck volume: a minimum load is $99 to $150, a quarter truck $180 to $280, a half truck $320 to $480, a full truck $850 to $1,000. Most jobs land between $150 and $700, and the number is confirmed before any work begins.
Do you offer same-day junk removal in Sacramento County?
Most days. Text a photo to (916) 770-7619 early in the day for the best same-day window; next-day is almost always open, weekends included.
Do you serve both homes and businesses in Sacramento County?
Yes. Every community gets the full range, from a single couch or appliance to office cleanouts and recurring property-management turnovers, scheduled around operating hours.
What items can't you take?
Hazardous materials: wet paint, chemicals, solvents, propane, asbestos. Sacramento County takes household hazardous waste free at the North Area Recovery Station and Kiefer Landfill. Once a property is clear of hazards, we take the rest.
Do you donate and recycle instead of landfilling everything?
When we can. Clean, working pieces go to Sacramento-area charities and metal to scrap recyclers. Charities turn down stained, torn or broken items, so we sort each load in the truck rather than promise it up front.
How quickly can you come out?
Often within hours. The schedule fills from the morning, so the earlier you text, the better the odds of today. Otherwise tomorrow.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
No. Many customers show us the items and leave, or give us a gate code and lockbox. We send photos when the space is clear and take payment by phone.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Nothing is required; we carry everything from wherever it sits. Gathering items in one spot speeds the visit, and flagging stairs or a long carry in your text keeps the quote accurate.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit cards, cash and most digital payments, collected once the job is done. No deposit to book.
